QU participated in Qatar International Agricultural and Environmental Exhibition

Qatar University (QU) participated in the 8th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) and the 2nd Qatar International Environmental Exhibition (EnviroteQ) 2021 at Doha Exhibition and Conference Center (DECC).
QU represented The Agricultural Research Station and The Environmental Science Center (ESC) at the Exhibition, aiming to present the critical achievement, research, and sustainable development sector.
The Agricultural Research Station shared the plans and research for supporting food sustainability & security project at the exhibition. They also presented their existing research project, which included their experimental plant to produce leafy vegetables through hydroponics. The Environmental Research Center shared their successful experiences in genetic planting in the engineering field.
Dr. Mohammed Alsafran, Director of Agricultural Research Station commented that QU participation this year is different from previous years. QU shared their research entity (Agricultural Research Station) affiliated to the Research & Graduate Studies Sector.
“During exhibition we introduced our goals, vision, and mission of the station and role as a supportive research center for all stakeholders in the country,” said Dr. Mohammed.
Dr. Talaat Abdel-Fattah Ahmad, Research Associate Professor of Plant Molecular Biology at ESC said: “The Center presented samples from experiments using tissue culture to contribute and propagate endangered Qatari plants. In addition to improving the genetic of tomato plants to resist drought and salinity.”
The event has special importance as it is a strategic platform that helps to explore new horizons in the advancement of the Qatari agricultural sector as it is the base of food security that comes at the forefront strategic priorities for self-sufficiency.
